Meet “The Soul Doula”
Rev. Dr. Avery Atkinson is an international speaker and practitioner in applied consciousness and embodied neuroscience, integrating neuroscience, somatic healing, and metaphysical frameworks to support holistic wellness, mental resilience, and emotional intelligence. Her work is evidence-informed, experiential, and grounded in whole-system healing.
A medically trained chaplain and recent graduate of the UAB Chaplain Residency, Dr. Atkinson serves individuals and families in their most vulnerable moments. Her clinical training deeply informs her speaking, bringing trauma-aware nervous system insight, emotional intelligence, and embodied compassion to every platform she serves.
Dr. Atkinson is the creator of Signature Self™, her neuroscience-informed, somatic, and consciousness-based personal development framework that helps individuals access mental resistance, emotional clarity, and whole-system wellness.
Signature Self™: An Applied Framework for Whole-System Wellness
Dr. Atkinson is the creator of Signature Self™, her signature personal development framework designed to help individuals access mental resistance, emotional intelligence, and somatic health through a holistic, embodied process. Rooted in neuroscience, somatic awareness, and applied consciousness, Signature Self™ translates her integrative philosophy into practical, sustainable tools for real-world transformation.
Signature Self™ reflects Dr. Atkinson’s belief that holistic wellness offers full access to the mind-body-consciousness system. That healing becomes sustainable when individuals learn to regulate the nervous system, develop emotional literacy, and align with their authentic self. This framework informs her speaking engagements, clinical presence, and wellness programming.
Global Roots & Integrative Practice
Dr. Atkinson’s work is deeply shaped by her global experience. She began her entrepreneurial journey while attending Hampton University, founding Think!Kingdom Consulting in 2003 to support faith-based entrepreneurs with event planning and holistic brand development worldwide.
Her calling to wellness equity led her to live in South Korea for almost a decade, where she studied ancient Asian medicinal practices and identified profound intersections between Asian and African healing traditions. These insights became the foundation of A2 Global Wellness, her integrative wellness brand.
A2 Global Wellness & The Soul Doula
Through A2 Global Wellness, Dr. Atkinson offers holistic wellness education, corporate training, ecotherapy healing retreats, and trauma-informed support. Known as Dr. A — The Soul Doula, she supports individuals navigating life transitions with embodied practices that honor both science and spirit.
Cultural Leadership & Social Impact
Dr. Atkinson is also a cultural leader and global advocate. She founded Passport Life (formerly 1040Global Network) and its philanthropic arm, Passport University, which provides passports, travel scholarships, and cultural intelligence training to first-generation HBCU students. Her mission is to expand access to global citizenship and embodied leadership.
Philosophy
An advocate, nonprofit founder, global thinker, and healer, Dr. Atkinson believes that: Radical justice begins with radical healing. Her work centers on the understanding that sustainable transformation requires addressing mind, body, and consciousness together with integrity, compassion, and precision.
“If I take care of you and you take care of me, then everyone is taken care of. Let’s all take care of one another as global citizens, across cultural divides, and beyond ethnic barriers.”
We make a global impact by developing global citizens.
Lady A took her passion for cultural exchange and global education back to her hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina where she encourages first-generation travelers to live a “Passport Life”. Revamped from the previous 1040Global Network, Passport Life is a travel and lifestyle brand whose philanthropic arm, Passport University, pours into the lives of HBCU and minority students who dream of traveling internationally but do not have the resources to do so. That’s where Lady A comes in. She gifts these students with passports, travel scholarships, and cultural intelligence training to explore global leadership through travel. Although a young business, Passport University has directly impacted five HBCU campuses, hosted a Mid-Eastern HBCU Global Impact Conference, been highlighted in the SIT ‘WeGlobal’ Education Conference, and has been a platform for educational workshops at Compton College and California State University, Long Beach. Most Recently, Lady A and Passport University made a splash at the White House Initiative on HBCUs by ranking Top 5 and being featured in ESPN’s culture and college segment “The Undefeated”.
After publishing Awesome Truths: Confessions of a Believer, the book she wrote while living in South Korea, Dr. A expanded her reach in the States by speaking at a host of colleges, churches, and organizations in North Carolina, New York, the DMV area, as well as Los Angeles. She tailored some of these messages from her time on the missions field in Asia. No matter the audience, Lady A’s message is consistent in its authenticity, which is also evident in her lifestyle. “I live my life nice and loud, even if I'm the only one listening!"
